How does one counter a felon rush with a shieldbot fac, jumper fac, LV fac, and spider fac?

Easy. You send some high hp unit to soak up damage and then just kill it. With spiders you can just spy it.

Depends on the situation. Assaults work, since they can tank felon fire. Antiheavies like racketeer and skuttle work, spy works if there's no outlaw. If you have time you can weaken it a bit with arty. Sometimes a stinger can save you from these kinds of rushes.
When you scout a heavy rush, make sure to scout and punish undefended base/expansion, while preparing a counter. Once you know you can survive the rush for long enough, expand naked with the cons you can spare.
Rushing is a big metal investment, so your opponent will be weak in either defense or raiding, and probably also eco, use this to your advantage.

Get a builder. Easy.

This is felon rush so supposedly there is no support BErankFlipstip.

It is very simple (of course if it is alone or only with like one convict/thug)
3-4 schorchers
2 ravagers
2-3 leverers (felon can kite them quite nicely)
1 skuttle
1 jack
1 placeholder (which can just indifinetly hold it while you expand)
3-4 hermits
1 inflirtrator + couple fleas
2-3 venoms
3-4 reculses (they have serious trouble with aiming properly)

Keep in mind that you need also scout for a said rush and dont commit to 3 builders first silliness (unless it is a vast map where rushes don't happen or a map with lotsa reclaim).

Felon rushes usually do come with support, often convicts.

yeah, felon-only rush is trivial to deal with. You can attack ground with skirmishers to drain its shield and then move in with a single riot, if you don't have a felon-specific counter on hand. The main advantage in dealing with them is the cost. It takes over a minute to build a felon, even if you build nothing else. You should be able to scout in that time to get and idea of what's going on. Plus it's slow, so in a large map you have tons of time to come up with one of the many counters.

I'm more interested in hearing about defending against a felon rush preceded by some convicts and executed by someone who knows what they're doing.

Stand the raiders you were already making outside their base. Do not engage, but make it very clear that if they move out you're gonna deck 'em. This should slow down their push considerably as they build defenses to keep their base alive. Use this time to rush an answer.

My personal favourite is sharp-shooter. Turn off cloak until you need it. SS will also answer pretty much anything else from the factory, and by the time they know you have it you already sniped their felon. It is slow to build however, so you've got to make sure you can last long enough for it to come out.

If the felon is already on its way by the time you scout it, it's less likely you'll have time for sharp-shooter.

If the felon is alone then you should be able to just build up forces until it's almost at your base then kill it. Against an Unsupported felon, a decisive strike will make cost at this point. Don't piss about, you're all-in on killing it. You've then got a superior economy and reclaim -> strong advantage.

If it is supported, you should have definitely known it was coming, but if
somehow you find yourself in this position...
Building solars around the outside of your base will make it difficult for them to assault you without wasting all of their energy. Presumably you've got raiders? Well keep them alive and wait. Build up high hp/cost units like dirtbag or other assaults. The cheaper the better. Send them in just as they start building their towers, and be ready with your raiders. Once shield is drained on felon, send in raiders and gg.

Afaik felon rush is not a viable strategy against players that know what they're doing.

Felons have a preset kill limit, simply send wave after wave of your own men until it shuts down.

For example:
  • 75 shield charge, 108.4 damage per shot.
  • 1200 max shield.
= Kill limit of 8 Glaives.

8 Glaives cost less than Felon and you were probably already making them. Something similar works for other raiders (except tanks, in that case use Welder).

If you don't want to suicide raiders suicide your commander instead. A fully charged Felon deals 1734 damage which is enough for most comms to survive. Then while it is shooting your commander run the raiders in.

If it is a Felon with support (Thugs or Convicts or perhaps Outlaw?) then you have more time to scout and respond. Make either:
  • Long ranged stuff to disable the shield.
  • High health stuff to drain the Felon.

>You can attack ground with skirmishers to drain its shield

What skirmisher has a longer range than a felon? Except for the Rogue or something.

It doesn't have to be longer range than the felon, it has to be longer range than (felon - shield radius).

In fact, it doesn't even have to hit the felon's shield. Any shield in front of it will sap power from the felon too.

That often ends badly though if the felon keeps moving back and forth since the one controlling the skirms is an imperfect being.

Skirms that do comfortably outrange Felon work quite well though. I'm quite happy to spam Rogue or Recluse vs Felon.

I like countering 1 unit rushes with a racketeer. It's also highly useful vs. the shield which drains the felon.

Always lovely when a units best counter is in its own lab. Mirror-match all the things!

Conversely, I always rage out when my 1 unit rush gets disarmed

All the best counters to Shieldbot have always been in Shieldbot. Rogue missiles always hit shields, Roach and Outlaw AoE goes straight through shields, Racketeer disarms shields, Thugballs are one of the best things to drain Racketeers Felons with, etc. It's kind weird but fine as long as the fac isn't OP.

*drain Felons with

The king of Felon counters is still Sharpshooter though.

Being slightly annoying by draining shields or temporarily disarming stuff is one thing, long range instagib is another.

If you're willing to splash a little more, Sumo (with a little help) can butcher the entire shieldball. They don't even get to run.

A skuttle is cheaper and more effective. So is puppy spam.
