anyway, I think zk is not good for my mental health. I can have the best mood in weeks, play one game and be angry right away.

This is what happens when you play Tangerine with 32 players.

DErankkatastrophe uses mental help in clusters.

@ME(n)TAL_katastrophe do you really think you are still yourself?

While I can imagine actions that started your anger (meaning, I have seen enough annoying/stupid/useless behavior in large team games), I think you are experienced enough (in terms of play time and how community works) to get that you can't really expect anything (good) from such a large team where the difference between the first 3 players and the 4th player is 300 ladder positions!... For me some people have fun in a weird way (making storages seems particularly rewarding for some :-p) and that's life...

maybe we can have a "most storages" award to encourage building more storages?
+1 / -0
- I do not remember storages, i didn`t look at our back. I remember a buoy-army that the owner must have build up since the start of the game pass by. They were on move-command into the enemy base. How is someone supposed to balance out a team-partner that actively feeds like that?

- unknownrankShaman no it`s not just Tangerine with 32 players, it can also be Alien Desert with 2.

- Yes, I know it`s me that is the problem.

For me the problem is that I have no control over the extremes of: 1v1 and large casual team games. If I choose large casual team games it's like Dante's inferno quote: "All hope abandon, ye who enter here"

In some days, some players play in a style that I really can't do anything about. I do not mind explaining here and there, or loosing a game so that they see they are wrong. But if in 3 games in a row someone starts a detri and team loses each time with the detri built 50%, I would rather have an option "rather spec than play in same team with player X for 24 hours". Such an option might teach them something as well :-p. A 16 people team all starting detris will loose faster ;-).

Well,, in big team games, if there is a guy spamming storages, making useless huge terra trenches or starting big projects, chances are, there is a similar guy doing the same thing in the opposing team. In this sense its balanced.

this is not correct CZrankSilent_AI in big game like this u can get 1 purple and 3 low elo players witch 1 make ANGRY BIRDS sling all the time other do 30 MIN PROJECT anoter make NUKE RUSH if that will happen u r 3 ppl down from the start if other team dont have same 3 ppl not making units u r ded in first 15 min due to agro...
so next game if players stay in the pot balance will be very same ish so u stuck with same 3 ppl doing same stuff imo its like won vs lost team balance next game so now u r in big troble in next game and any game after so best to spec or go mental and get banned for toxic comments its up to u lol

@Inde_Irae tends to host a very small teamgames room with 2k+ elo requirement.

I find it a vastly superior experience. If you lose, it tends to be because your enemies played well and deserve it.

Maybe the solution would be to not to think about big team games that competetively? Even if you have some of these guys in your team, sometimes it happens that in a RPS style your team just decides to use wrong strategies (ie Seaven going for snitches and a guy in the opposing team trying to do domiball) and you are on a back foot from the start. Yeah, sometimes I get angry because of some people too (notably Arjack making nuke and nuking spots that HE KNEW were protected by an anti, without trying to disable it), but if they arent wasting metal so horribly like this (if they are porcing with lots of shields, desolators and lucifers, it might be useful, who knows) and arent toxic, maybe we should not get so emotional over them.

CZrankSilent_AI: couldn't agree more with the "don't get emotional part", but then again some people can't help it. While personally I accept it is part of the large team games, for a specific session of playing feels worse and worse if you get the same set of players that do something that does not work (being it nuke, detri, storages, troll comm, etc.). And this happens both with experienced and beginner players...

It would be interesting to analyze based on existing games how often does this happen, like: per playing session, per loosing games, how many players are "in common". I would imagine is worse the higher you go in the ranking, but can't say how bad it is. But I have too many analysis for other stuff (work), so will not do this one as well :-).

What was it again why we cant have blues and purples only room available 247 by default? Even a small one, 4v4 max or such? "Cant have cool kids play alone and exclude others" or something?

I made the mistake of playing in lobster pot on the last day of last year, stupid games that made me stop playing and not even want to come back to zero-k. Drunk trolls decided battles, the team with less of those won. Zero-fun. Mental health has been excellent this year with 0 games played.

So, like Anarchid wrote, high elo is superior experience. And thats where mental health doesnt get stressed.

Also, looking at some battles, theres lots of yellows and such colors around, would it really matter if there was "purples and blues welcome" room? If I'd go play some game and be new or of lower color, I wouldnt mind if some super nerds had their own room where I couldnt play, I'd happily battle with my equals. And of course, happily spectate on the cool kids games.

There was one attempt last year of having a passworded elo restricted room, but I guess it didnt really work well because the room vanishes when last player leaves, or something like that :/ Bummer.

The argument was that there was a high probability that those would kill the lobsterpot by drawing away to many players, thus effectively preventing new people from getting a game.
I didn`t buy that in the first place, because we have had such a room ("expierienced-host") twice already. both times it was always empty and taken down after a while because it was unused.

Oh so its been tried and didnt work? Not enough high elo players who want to play, preferring lobster pot or 1v1? Problem wasnt that not enough player for lobster pot...? Ok.

The server is currently configured such that anybody can start a rating-restricted room up to maxplayers 6 at any time, as far as I know.

isn`t it 8?

Possibly. I would have to try with a test account to find out for sure.
