Does getting more of your team's mexes result in you getting more metal?

Aka if I have 2/10 team mexes total vs 3/10 am I being given a greater share?

Pretty sure you get the metal back from building it though. So kinda sorta yes, but not in the way you're asking.

Yeah that's what I heard, that metal is shared, but when you first build a mex, it pays you the metal from that mex until it pays for the mex.

I am not completely sure though.

There is a widget, probably with "payback" in the name, which lists the incomes of your team and how much they are to be paid back for mexes and energy. Mexes give you something like 60 metal of pending extra income, which is paid over a minute or so.

Note that reclaiming goes exclusively to you.

If you're looking for a way to mooch off, build cons and send them in parts of map you're not helping.

Also, if you do that, you're kind of a dick... unless of course your allies aren't reclaiming. Then, by all means, help youself.

Also if you search for a secret corner when no one watches you there are allied nanoframes too, here a claimy, there a claimy should improve your metal exclusive income. :-)

Sometimes even map structures give metal... or at least free energy from trees which is a passive aggretator for overdrive

Man I so want to say 'yes'. Yesterday there was a mex that hadn't been capped near our team's start position something like 5 mins into the game. Like, you don't like metal?

Since mex doesnt pay back/extra income 100% of its price to its creator could it be that singu also doesnt? Same with pylons?

I forget. Enable the widget and play around, or look somewhere in the source files (probably near the top of the overdrive gadget).

Pylons don't payback since figuring out how much metal a Pylon makes is tricky.

  • Mexes refund 50% of their cost from their base income over time. The proportion starts at 1:1, so a +2 mex will initially give you +1 personal and the other +1 goes to the team (including you, so in a 3v3 you get +1.33 and the other two dudes get +0.33). Over time this goes down to 0 personal and +2 being fully shared (i.e. everybody ina a 3v3 getting +0.66 from a +2 mex). The time it takes for a mex to become fully shared is reversely proportional to its base income. This refund is accounted to the owner of the mex (ie. if somebody assists building your mex, they don't get any refund) but tracks friendly ownership changes (transferring a mex also transfers remaining refund). Hostile capture (Dominatrix) cancels refunds (even if the mex was just a 1% nanoframe), they are not reinstated if the mex is rescued.
  • Solar, Turbine, Fusion, Singu, and basic Geo refund 50% of their metal cost from overdrive. It starts refunding at 1:2 in the proportion that they are contributing. For example say you have +350 total energy which gets converted to +20 OD metal. A fusion, with its +35 energy, is thus responsible for +2 metal. You initially get +0.66 and the rest of the team gets +1.33 from the fusion (with the same caveats as above, i.e. in a 3v3 you get ~1.1 and the other two get ~0.45). The refund is accounted wholly to the owner at the time the generator finishes, regardless of who assisted, and only the first time (ie. reclaiming a bit and finishing it again does nothing). It does not track friendly ownership changes, but is cancelled by Dominatrix.
  • Advanced Geo refunds 50% of its total cost, which is effectively 75% of the morph cost, but morphing also cancels any outstanding refund that the basic geo may have had remaining. Otherwise it is the same as other energy.
  • Anything not listed above (Pylons, Storage, anything added by mods, Planetwars stuff, ...) applies no refund.
  • If the modoption `overdrivesharingscheme` is set to 0, there is no refund.

The widget which displays this is called "RoI Tracker". It may disable itself in contexts where refund makes no sense (eg. 1v1) so don't be surprised if it doesn't show up in a local test.

To be honest, since it's a team game, you win when your team win and lose when your team lose. That's why I don't care to build mexes, pylons and other Energy makers.
I can even give costly units if it appear I can't do everything myself (when I sent units to help somewhere, and I NEED to be somewhere else).

It's not BA and its toxic community.

yes, you get more metal. You get more of your team mexes by aggressively building them. When mexes are aggressively built, they produce metal sooner for your team and longer for your team. Your share of more metal, is more metal, so yes you get more metal for building more of your team's mexes.
