Hi,

do you think it would be possible to have an automatic distance calculation for grid buildings (wind, tidal, solar, pylon) with visualization?

So I have indicator (by color?) of the maximum distance which will still connect.
Additionally it will be cool if the spacing adjusts when I have selected the optimal spacing for a horizontal/vertical build queue and draw a diagonal queue (it should reduce the spacing to ensure connections).

If the second part cannot be implemented, the color indicator will be still cool, so i can adjust the spacing by that visually.

I cannot decide if it should be integrated in the core game or if this should be added by a mod.

That inconvinence with different spaceing/grid distances when building horizontal/vertial to diagonal has been in the game since times long forgotten.

Yes i would also appreciate a QoL update there.

At some point I plan on adding a link grid option to build commands. Mex -> press 'l'. problem solved. Though some details will need to be addressed, such as use solar, wind, or pylons to do it.

Sounds like maybe you have yet to discover the economy overlay. Does pressing the green circle with "Toggle Economy Display" tooltip address this for you?

hi,

unfortunately not. I enable auto activation, so it switches on while placing eco builödings BUT on many maps the coloring of the covered area for grid is very difficult to see.

While placing a queue of wind/solar i often end up realizing every 3th or 5th building has a little gap and i have to run along again to fix this or lazily scatter pylons over the area, but that not the intention behind this vizual help.

if there is any more hints or suggestion to solve the issue.

sometimes the visual effect isn't visible to see if the building you place will connect properly or if there will be another solution in the near future :)

please describe what is "grid spacing" ?

I use x/y while drawing a line and often I can see the plater on the ground to make sure the wind/solar gens will be connected.

This works best in horizontal or vertical lines, for diagonal lines I have to change the spacing as it wont connect BUT in some cases it wont show properly on the ground and I end up with a line of wind/solar gens I have to fix by a parallel line or reclaim and rebuild.

The reason for my issue might be also in the need to have the max possible distance between them so units can walk easily through the spacing.

If i don't need to pass through them I can reduce the distance to the minimum value which will connect in any direction safely.
