NGL, despite my puff piece on skyjacks earlier, I don't play with ITrankbinko anymore. Skyjacks and blastwings.

I do like the idea of skyjacks, I stand by what I said before, but getting that disrupted constantly until the end of time is miserable regardless of the game outcome. I do want people to make units, but mobile units are effectively statics if they have to stay at the base until the end of the game.

I'm not sure what to do. Possibly make jacks ultra dense so that skyjacks can't start so early? Rejig chainsaw so that they can target units over a certain height? The ramp is so cheap for something with effectively infinite range and pinpoint accuracy that breaks expected bombardment parameters. Destroying it is both difficult and only a temporary reprieve.

it will never be fixed because devs enjoy to advertise "terraform" and "physics" as unique selling points.
the actual resulting gameplay is janky and unfun but that does not matter.

I really like the idea of AA shooting at everything above a certain height.

Otherwise, just build racketeers. Three racketeers shutdown one jack, which you can safely dispose of. And then thank for the metal. Space jacks is just still a good strategy against my team because I as usually the highest ranking player have to deal with it because others don't want to or don't know how to.

Tearing down the game as "unfun" and the forum as "barely active" is a bit of a weird take for somebody with 1200 games played, but I suppose some people just enjoy a good whinge.

3 newton + terraform pillar on southwest launching pyros from 3:30 onwards
then like 10 mins in it's a 6 newton position launching jacks

as air player i struggled to deal with it, they'd do enough dmg before dying.

likely before nerfs but i haven't been paying attention to balance details. Is a 6 newton jack launcher no longer viable?

In their current form newton turrets and terraform make the game worse.

For example if a unit gets thrown/jumps of a cliff then it would be high above ground. Should it get targeted by AA?
But a good solution seems possible.

Gravity turrets are an interesting concept but they should only have effect on enemies.
Eco is usually clumped at the map edge, that adds another level of jankyness when trying to throw units there.
Why not have proper unit cannons? Load units into a Big Bertha and then the projectile uses the expected projectile physics, like bouncing of shields and normal flight heights.
Or some kind of drop pods or parachutes or whatever.

Terraform is only used to make silly looking pillars or pits or sometimes ugly giant walls.
It would be nicer to have maps with areas where you need to terraform a ramp to get there.
Or build a bridge across a river.
Or tear down a wall to get somewhere.
But there are no such maps and no such gameplay.
Just crab spires and fusions in holes.
When every place can always be reached by some factory, in a cheaper fashion, then terraform is useless.

wat? terrorform is a key selling point of ZK. i gave BAR a go. it is beautiful and boring, but the lack of terraform is disturbing.

these videos overdo terraform for demonstration purposes.

i use reasonable ramps or bridges regulary to pass obstacles and gain a favorable strategic angle.
or to bury front mexes, block skythes from killing antis or singus etc.
or block lance or fencer shots or for bertha protection.
or hide cloaked special forces in their back.

it is always a decision, how much to invest vs the potential benefit. something the untrained player surely can do wrong. sometimes a gimmick, sometimes a game-changing desicion.
