Are you talking about the Firepluk? The administration decided to completely smoke him from the project, the strange is that they simply did not give him a permanent ban

yeah I meant that.

Was he banned till 2121 because he breached the rules in some very serious manner or just because mods simply got fed up with his attitude? (his "gg's", calling people names and resigns midgame without reason). Cause if he really did something serious, perma ban might be adequate, but just perma banning him suddenly just for behaving how he usually does (ie in a toxic manner but not line crossing toxic manner) is pretty harsh.

RUrankizirayd well he was perma banned, unless you think both Firepluk and Zero-K are going to be here in the next century too.

Edit: unknownrankShaman corrected me that Firepluk was not perma banned, he is right, my above mentioned message is misleading.

This is not a permanent ban (or a ban at all). Note the distinct lack of "lobby blocked" or "forum blocked".

unknownrankShaman oh sorry, I thought he was blocked from the game itself for eternity too, my bad. If he is blocked only from the forum, it isn't that terrible. Altough, speaking of it, I do not remember Firepluk being toxic here, on the forum, so I do not see a reason for him to be banned from accesing it (moreover perma banned).
And, it still doesn't answer the question, whether there was some big breach of the rules preceding his ban, or just you getting continually more and more fed up.

I guess my problem is that I dislike the concept of perma ban of general. Using it seems little too strong for such trivial things like a pc game. I mean, if you detect some bots and trolls spreading dangerous disinformation on some social networks, then sure, perma ban is in order, because these are important, real-life things, but perma banning someone from a pc game... really? Yeah, just ban him for three months, and if he is toxic after this time again then ban him over and over until he changes his perspective or quits, but perma banning for such trivialities is harsh. What if in two years Firepluk becomes a nice guy (or a girl, to be gender neutral... hehe it would be fun if Firepluk was some toxic girl all along. Altough you would know from some mumbles, or would you?) who wishes everyone glhf before a match starts, helps new players, etc.? Would it be too time consuming for you mods to ban people repeatedly with a three month period?

Firepluk isn't banned from anything. All he has is an explicit warning against belittling/disrespecting people. He appears to have decided to stop playing rather than play in a normal, socially constructive, way.

Yes on average, taking into account the resulting hullabaloo.

Note: Shaman is not an Admin and cannot ban anyone for any reason.

Firepluk does not have any active bans. What Firepluk does have is a warning to him: follow the CoC and stop making negative comments about your teammates or you will be banned if we find out about it. Firepluk's list of penalties and abuse reports dates back to 2014 and is... huge.

Firepluk's last ban ended on February 22nd. If Firepluk wants to come back and can avoid insulting their teammates or griefing, they're welcome to do so.

Edit: oh sniped

It's somewhat more extensive than that, in that it also prohibits negative and unhelpful comments. E.g. saying the team failed would be neither belittling nor disrespecting (debatably), but would still be prohibited. (not saying I disagree with the warning, just that the above isn't a complete summary)
It also covers any complaints about the restrictions.

Not saying I banned him or anything or that I have the power to.

Just trying to prevent misinformation from starting a huge flame war (which is what the downvote is for: misinformation, when the part calling it a permanent ban is spoilered or something I'll remove the downvote.) Calling an innocuous warning a permanent ban is a huge stretch, especially with the recent allegations of abuse. Most people will probably just skim this and go "oh wow, text block" and conclude 'yeah he's permabanned' because of the 2121 end date without actually reading the 'warning' part or noticing the lack of blocking attached to that punishment. Hence my preemptive attempt at correcting the situation.

Probably warnings need red text or something? This would probably be a blind fix.

quote:
WARNING: Due to your years-long history of incessantly belittling teammates and complaining about other players, the moderators have decided to revoke the benefit of the doubt when reviewing your communications. There is now a zero tolerance policy, applied to you specifically, for negative and unhelpful comments. Do not, for example, mark "wtf" on a choice made by a teammate, put "gg" on a teammate in trouble, call people names, or complain about how you think your team has failed. Attempts to find the line by 'being ambiguous' or 'joking' will be met with similar penalties. So will complaints about the restrictions or attempts to stir up drama - you had your chance to uphold the basic standards of communication that are maintained by most other players.
