Halberds seem pretty capable of cost-effectively fighting Pyro.

Placeholder should have default minimum antibait.

I have trouble believing that Halberd can hit Pyro, unless the Pyro is chasing and failing to dodge. I didn't see Halberd beat Pyro in this game, rather, I saw Halberd barrel past Pyro and kill Firewalker.

Halberd has:
  • 60 elmos less range (200 range).
  • 6 elmos/s more speed.
  • A project that is only 122% faster than Pyro.

This means that Halberd has 138 ((1 - 1/3.22)*200) effective range against a Pyro running directly away from it, because otherwise the Pyro will be beyond its 200 range when the projectile hits. Meanwhile, Pyro is free to use its 260 range to poke at Halberd and force it away. I really doubt you can fight Pyro with Halberd in any kind of cost-effective way. I don't doubt that you can kill something that Pyro is trying to protect, provided you have enough Halberds.

The minimum Anti-Bait ignores armoured targets, and units are supposed to err on the side of doing something rather than looking broken with the default UI. Set Placeholder Anti-Bait yourself if you want a higher value.

I suspect that halberd can close to point blank before trying to hit pyro, because of the low dps vs powerful armor.

That said I am quite interested in seeing how it works out.

This is indeed what happened, but my read on this situation is just slightly different enough. Naked monospam halberd should lose of course, but in this situation:

- IIRC no halberd dies during the whole prolonged engagement.
- Several pyros do die while trying to fight the Halberds in what should be a very uncomfortable situation for Halberd.

On a chassis that is also (3.2 vs 3.0) faster than Pyro. This means that a Pyro taking dodges while in pursuit of a retreating Halberd has no chance to stay close, while a Pyro that makes maximum time takes hits. Damned if you do.
