erm this is a forum game .. play if you want.. just like my other post its kinda pointless

ok so i can start by saying an egg + a light = a duck...
then the next post: says a duck + a cat = dead duck..
next post: says dead duck + shovel = grave..
next post: grave + shovel = loot .. ect

so ill start with zero-k + trolls = bans.. then someone can add to bans

No it was fine, I just shouldn't have said what I said, sorry about that, I am not sure what I was thinking.

Isn't it that people want to discuss such things just because there are mod interventions like this? That by trying to prevent drama one creates it.

What I am saying is that there were like five or so threads started about the climate of the game, mod interventions, etc. and Aquarim locked all of them. If he let these people who wanted to, for whatever reason, discuss these things, without any intervention, maybe it would not happen that another four threads would pop up once the first one was locked.

Given AUrankSmokeDragon's comment I am not clear on whether he cares about further derailment but in any case... CZrankSilent_AI let me make this clear to you.

* If people actually want to discuss "the climate of the game" in a thread on that topic, they should feel free to do so. No such discussion was taking place in the thread with that in the title. I have made this abundantly clear in several posts by now, and the latter point should be quite evident from a brief read of that thread.
* When a thread about "mod interventions" turns into throwing insults at the moderators (euphemistic or otherwise) and generally provoking drama with unreasonable arguments, then it seems entirely reasonable that such threads will be closed.
* Given that I gave quite clear instructions in the other thread (though not directly at you) to cease dragging out that discussion into other threads, and then asked USrankLawesome9 to not derail this thread, I really do not know what makes you think it was a good idea to make the post you just did.

CZrankSilent_AI If you must continue this conversation, contact myself or another admin on Discord, in the lobby, or using the contact an admin button on your user page. Attempting to provoke further drama on the forums etc will have consequences.

It looks like this thread is going to end up derailed no matter what, so I may as well post.

The locked threads were terrible places to have any sort of serious discussion. They fell to memers within the first few posts and it isn't at all obvious that this wasn't the intention of the OPs. Don't get drawn into taking these threads seriously. Most of the posters fall somewhere between pure memeing and pretending to take it seriously to troll those few trying to argue with them. For example, RUrankOntheheavens is certainly just here for the drama (based on his long history) and NOrankrockingchairrabbit has had no interaction with Zero-K for 17 months except to come in and stir up drama.

Why not just leave the thread open and let it run its course? Because they are a waste of time and make fruitful discussions about moderation significantly harder. The largest cost is incurred when the trolling and memeing generates so much miscommunication that reasonable people to end up in arguments with each other, at which point those stoking the original drama can sit back and declare victory.

Any serious moderation discussion worth having has to unambiguously start out that way. By this point such a thread may even need instructions in the OP to not meme or derail. The community has just been trained to meme these threads, as most of them are opened by trolls to complain about bans that are pretty obviously justified. This thread is a decent attempt at starting a reasonable discussion, but by invoking the previous threads it invites others to continue the pointless drama in it. It would not have been locked like that if not for the spillover from the other recent threads. Nevertheless, some discussion was had and I think the question about why the previous threads were locked was answered pretty thoroughly by unknownrankShaman and then backed up by AUrankAdminAquanim.

AUrankAdminAquanim I do not want to discuss any "climate" of the game or mod interventions or anything like that, I think that most of it is ok (I agree with most of the things you do and respect you for that, you do it in your free time and some modding, whether be it here or in the game is necessary) and I did not even write anything in the locked threads. I only saw that in its first five or so posts, this thread had a tendency to derail once again, and I was trying to find reasons why it seemed to be the case. Jeez :D

Also: I know that some parts of the discussion about the climate of the game in these threads were toxic. But my point is - is it really necessary to lock these threads? I mean, you locked one, another one popped up. If you just let it be, those people who wanted to write there anything would do so, the rest of the community would ignore them, and everybody would be happy. This way, these people get angrier because they feel like they are being unfairly silenced, which in turns makes them want to write more toxic stuff.

Silent_AI: You did a much better job of saying what I was trying to say, nice job, I did not state what I said very well and when I look at it now it looks rude.

I think that this thread was actually derailed onto another track. In other words, I don't think it just went off into nowhere with crazy posts and all that, I think that something was actually discussed.

AUrankAdminGoogleFrog's post seems like it answers this question.
