After leaving the discord and reflecting on my reasons for doing so, I believe that it would be beneficial to have a blatant rules channel with potential punishments, so that complaints of unfairness and bias can be eliminated as well as speed of moderator action increased.

Admins enforcing their own justice through their own morality is a key to admin abuse and disaster.

Also, I'm confused, why does my post have dislikes when it's a proposal that benefits everyone? Maybe you can atleast elaborate.

You think CoC isn't detailed enough? Wdym by "blatant rules"?

Why are you using social media and expecting anything but drama?

ILrankrollmops I couldn't find the CoC in the Discord, I think there should be a channel with clear rules that people can follow. Example: Rule 1 - don't use slurs.

Such a channel would be easy to reference when someone breaks the rules. Right now you would have to go on the ZK website and find the CoC then use that as a reference.

Seems to be superfluous to make another set of rules while CoC covers all kinds of community communication. All you need is a link to CoC,

Well, the game and the discord are different platforms. You could just adapt the CoC rules to the Discord and put them in a channel, doesn't hurt anyone and it helps in various ways as I mentioned

I think the fact that you seem to need to be told not to use slurs speaks volumes.

GBrankPRO_rANDY do you know the definition of example? I've seen this exact rule in other Discords. A comment such as yours was unnessecary. Stay on topic.

@Lightzerve you're just digging your grave deeper. My unsolicited advice is to bite your tongue, you will find that challenging the status quo of online communities is not compatible with mental well being. Discord itself is on record for deleting whole "discords" for containing wrong-think, I doubt anyone wants that. Just bide your time and find a place that's not as restrictive.

The first link in the read-me channel under INFORMATION is the CoC. I believe this is the channel new joiners are sent to.

Drama aside though, a copy of the CoC in discord in the landing channel would probably make Discord happier in terms of server status.

unknownrankTinySpider challenging the status quo must be done if one wants a better place. If we hadn't challenged some things in the past I would be living in germany under a not so nice system. Giving up is step one to compliance.

AUrankAdminGoogleFrog I'm sure a channel just for rules would be better - people won't be overwhelmed by other bits of information and will instead just see the rules immediately.

On the side, it's funny how moderation dislikes the comment that challenges their power. Why is this open source game being treated like a closed source malware?

Wait, can you explain that "closed source malware" thing to me?

You mix up two different things:

1. The open source ZK game (code) is treated like any other open source project. You could make your own server with your own friends/community and speak there the most unspeakable things.

2. The particular instance of ZK around zero-k.info with this particular community. Here it is less important that the code is open source, more important that this is noncommercial, voluntary project where the managing team invest their time and money to maintain gaming community according to certain principles (see CoC). They don't owe you nothing, you are free to leave and make your own community or politely suggest some changes. So far you do neither of these things.

Btw, regarding "closed source malware", why do you use discord in the first place?

"Bad faith refers to dishonesty or fraud in a transaction. Depending on the exact setting, bad faith may mean a dishonest belief or purpose, untrustworthy performance of duties, neglect of fair dealing standards, or a fraudulent intent."

ILrankrollmops the choice of what changes should be made are owed to the users that play the game. Drive the game in the wrong direction then lose your players. There is no ZK without players. What I'm doing is requesting a change but I'm being disliked - I don't know why, my suggestion is very simple and the benefits are clear - right now it's somewhat like arguing with the shit in your toilet.

USrankDave[tB] quite ironic how I was talking about elaboration and you instead respond with some definition. Please give a real answer if you want to be taken seriously..

The immediate transition from

I don't know why

to

it's ... like arguing with the shit in your toilet.

is a very faulty reasoning.

No, I'm annoyed this arguing is pointless and going nowhere so I'm expressing myself.
