It would be nice if I could change my in-game mode from control to grouping, where I can unify selected units under the same group, then control them in the control mode. It sounds easy in theory, and clean in solution, I just wish I knew how easy it would be to implement such a screen.

even my most simple mod creates bugs both when its made and when the game updates these bugs are just unforseen interactions between the new code and the old code.

to keep the game bug free and simple so that its accessible to new players the devs may opt to limit how often they add new features
without doubt there are still zerok bugs in the wild of wich most are unknown or situational.. but each time new code is added something somewhere will probably do something unexpected.

you must also keep in mind that due to time constraints there may be changes the devs have had to shelve.

posting your ideas is a good idea and a step in the right dirction. but im just worried you may feel that adding new code is easy or problem free. new code is time consuming, frustrating and can break things.

think of it as a maths test but if you get one wrong answer the teacher walks in upside down gives you an F and then explodes into wheels ??? wtf why did that happen ???

mostly it just crashes and you have to stare at an error log

Can I ask what exactly you mean by grouping?

You can already assign your selected units to a group (1-9) by pressing, for example, `Ctrl+1`. You can then select that group again later with `1`.

There's a lot you can do with this, especially when you start combining it with the other selection controls. For instance:

- Double-click a raider to select all raiders of that type on screen
- `Shift+1` to add Group 1 to the selection (maybe it contained some riots)
- `Ctrl+1` to make that new, bigger selection the new Group 1

And then send them off to go kill some stuff.

I guess what I'm trying to say is there are already a ton of advanced controls that aren't necessarily explained. If `Ctrl+[0-9]` isn't what you need, maybe you could give a specific example of a scenario where you're having trouble?

I was thinking of making custom "company of heroes" or "warhammer 40k" kind of grouping. Sure, I can make 9 groups out of small bundles of units, but I wish to have 100 groups, and it's just no realistic to control them using manual keyboard highlighting. It's an optimization feature.

so your asking for the groups to act as a single selectable entity so that if you drag selected 1 unit thats part of 1000 units in a 'group' it would select the whole 1000 units as if its 1 unit?
