[introduction]

In zero-k there are units that can move and units that cannot, with the latter being often loathed by many for their lack of mobility along with those who seem to love them deeply because … statics “ Never gonna run around and desert you” (Or so I suspect)

I wish for peace and understanding to exist between these two groups so that we may all wage war and blow stuff up in harmony.

For this we need a bridge to unite the mobiles and the statics, they both have one thing in common (apart form shootiness and such), they can morph, and as the union between Eraser and Sneaky Pete has proven this can not only bring them together but also add flexibility to the game and it is well known that flexibility is the raw material from which spring forth new possible strategies and thus new tactics of great awesomeness with many a big boom in them and feats of great trolling thy enemy with many a great lulz

[/introduction]
.................

[core idea]

I believe it would be great if at least some of the static defence structures could morph into mobile units of similar design and/or caliber, a few ideas I had:

Faraday -> venom

Stardust-> warrior

Razor`s kiss-> archangel

DDM-> Dante / Crabe

etc..

awaiting oppinions and sugesstions on other morph possibilities

[/core idea]
................

[notes]

did you never wish you could put to good use those defences that often ednd up behind the frontline for a bit of an extra push? in this way you could

to prevent abuse morphing a static to a mobile sould require a reasonable aditional cost when compared to just building the said unit in it`s designgnated factory (as total cost, not building+morph not just morph so morphing is still cheaper (or at least not more costly) than building the unit, but you “loose” the building ) and /or an xp requirement where aplicable

For example a DDM could be able to morph to a Crabe for say 1000-1200 metal from level 0 and to a Dante from level 3 with a similar “penalty”

it would also be cool if venom could also morph to faraday for defensive purposes basically allowing you to re-locate the faraday at a cost while giving the spiders some aditional defence against raiders (and perhaps gunship rushes)

I realize this may seem as too big a change for some but please just run a few scenarios with the possibilities it opens up and I am sure you will see at least a few worthwile possibilities, places and situations where things would be more interesting if such a sistem where in place.

I dislike this. It sounds like extra complexity and it would make static defences more powerful.

I`m not sure I understand what you mean, aspecially about statics becoming more powerful, could you be a bit more specific?

i like the idea. though, iwould not like battle units from static structures. i suggest more of a "morph to mobile, non-shooting-packed version" of the building which is very vulnurable and mobile to move to another place and demobilize there to the origin structure. morphing both ways should cost ressources to make up for the gained benefit.

I like this idea. Additionaly Ideas: Stinger -> Grizzly; Lotus -> Mace (There is not a "MLT")

-OMG OMG OMG I LOVE IT< I LOVE IT< I LOVE IT WOO HOOO!!!!!! People/teams that dont have some sort of static defenses at the front lines are usually the ones that fall the quickest(just because statics [if accompanied by a mobile force]) is stronger then any mobile force by itself). If the front lines could be moved up to say, the new front line that'd be awsome. Though it would be alittle more work I think this should be a whole new class of units, ones with much higher defense then normal, way WAY slower then normal, and no cost/little cost to morph, I love using my sheilds this way just for the energy/regen cost coefficient, to have the rest of my structures have the ability to morph/move would be extreme because once i morph one hlt to a ddm or tacyon the others just dont get kills till the whole thing is bum-rushed with units, so this would allow me to use tachyons to cover my slower heavier (newly morphed) little towers into a seiged(porc) position, and I could get less complaints when I bottle neck a game using defense as an absolute nasty offense :) Pwease, O pwease can we integrate this. Pwitty Pwease!!!!

I dislike this. If you want to move in this direction, I'd rather see more deployment-oriented mobiles like the Crabe and the Slasher.

As for morphables, my preferred approach would be to lose the shieldwalker/cloakwalker morph altogether (and return them to land-only units but allow their static forms on the water) but I know I'm in the minority on this issue. Then ZK would be consistent in that the only morphs are for experience or quantity-limited units like Comms and Geos.

Stinger costs 420, grizzly just about 2k.

Lotus -> Mace (There is not a "MLT")

80 -> 400, right. What's the point, if you can just make a new mace?

Just reclaim it, man, seriously.

(and return them to land-only units but allow their static forms on the water)

They aren't land-only even when not amphibious, because surfboard.

But only if they're like Crabe/Slasher, and not like the other deployment-sensitive stuff like ticks and roaches (which need either a widget or a manual toggle each time you make them to not give themselves away to those pesky felons)

This would encourage porcing mexes on map...And then you would with your +++metal just morph your porc into whatever you need,it's too flexible, and it would ruin zero-k if u ask me...

There appears to be some confusion here, with the exception of the faraday-venom pair(note that neither does actual damage) I never meant to say that mobiles should morph to statics NEVER, YOU HEAR ?

I was talking in terms of sacrificing statics in as a way to strengthen an offensive either to finish off an entrenched (but weakened) enemy faster or as a last resort when the other team has a significant eco advantage and is just waiting for a superweapon to score an easy win

also:

Additionaly Ideas: Stinger -> Grizzly

NO not even close, perhaps Annihilator-> Grizzly

quote:
Lotus -> Mace (There is not a "MLT")

NO

Lotus-> Bandit or flea (if at all, since by the stage where you would need to morph defences to fuel an offensive light unit swarms are no longer effective)

Edit:

Eisai:
This would encourage porcing mexes on map...And then you would with your +++metal just morph your porc into whatever you need,it's too flexible, and it would ruin zero-k if u ask me...

First of all I clearly stated using this option would cause the player to loose an amount of metal for each morph due to the cost of the building+morph being at least 15% higher than just building the unit in a factory so while the morph may be cheaper than the unit, overall it costs more add the fact that they cannot defend themselves while being built or morphing
so where is the “+++metal”???

Furthermore how would you “just morph your porc into whatever you need” if you only have 1 or 2 (at most) options per building (with the second (if present) requiring a certain minimum xp level (xp of the building not of the player))

I think it would kind of make sense within the context of shield and cloaker inter-morphing, but I never liked those to begin with.
