Elo does not change on special maps today.

Suggest to replace it with the following rule:
- If map has proper horizontal/vertical/corner split and is not special elo changes as always.
- Remove special attribute from such maps as trololo/tiny skirmish, etc
While leave it on such maps as Kurzack(which is really very special).
- Optionally: introduce a limitation on small maps(4x4 and less), not more than N times/N minutes.

You always need skills to win small maps when they splited properly.

Thoughts, suggestions?

Maybe not trollolo consider it's asymetrical features. You can't control where your idiot teammates spawn.
But the rest I agree.

Rule can take into account map size and split size in proportions, to make a guess is it silly split or not.

Impart your proposed silliness detection algorithm.

Also, non-silly trololo is lol.

Tbh I never saw a problem with silly maps affecting elo, except for people getting to the 1v1 top20 by playing SpeedMetal.

Anarchid, I just tell that skills required to win even a silly map.
So it's a bit confusing that we doesnt count elo on such maps.

Elo ranking is disabled on these maps not merely because they are random, but because the skills and tactics required to win these games are not really so much Zero-K as they are their own animal.

Except you can gain elo by playing zkdota or kernel panic, which are also not so much zk.

Edit: disregard my post, no longer the case.

What do you mean kernel panic?

A spring game. Anything that can be hosted on springie could gain you elo. That's why Godde made a separate account for non-zk games.

Edit: disregard my post, no longer the case.

This has not been accurate for quite a while.

So you could get to 2800 elo without ever playing ZK then start playing and be an enormous handicap to your team?

(except that it doesn't do that for at least a year now)

@carrepairer
I thought every game which has "Zero-K" in its name give elo.
Does KP really give elo?

I think Trololo map will not get more skillfull or less lolmap by having (different) startboxes.

Not sure about other spring games hosted on springies, but zK DOTA does influence elo.

-26.8 Elo for losing 2v1 DOTA game.
This battle is from yesterday.

So yes, if you want you could get to high (or at least decent) elo by never having played zK.
Fun fact: Not as theoretical as one might think, one example of a player elo-yoyoing between 1300 and 1700 is here: http://zero-k.info/Forum/Thread/3570

What is excact spelling of map "Kurzack"? Never heard of and search does not find it.

Do you mean Kurczak?

It's not the spelilng, it seems search-protected. You can copy-paste name into search box, and zkinfo won't find it anyway.
