Is there any punishment for digging holes to stall?

Or are we fine with community cancers delaying every single game for 10 minutes while people look for holes and try to destroy the tunneling units?

Shadows kill those very well.

Well you can also hide fleas on odd edges here and there, and shadows fail at finding those.

Essentially, this is griefing, and should be punishable in accord.

if you go after players doing such things you enter a gray area.
eventually somebody will claim that they "still had a chance to win" or whatever.
Such things should be better detected by the game?
eg make a team lose if
it has less than 10 units total
& it has no factories/eco/cons
& the enemy has 10 times the metal in units
& more than 15 minutes have passed.
& no damage was dealt to anything in last 2 minutes

I think it would be hard to find one of those conditions which;
  • Doesn't cut short some games which are still winnable
and
  • Isn't relatively easy for griefers to subvert.

I think we rely on enough people being serious enough to vote resign.

Do it like warcraft. If one side had no structures, start one minute timer, then all their mobiles are perma-visible. Simple enough.

Trust the judgment of human moderators. In almost every case it's going to be obvious that the player is intentionally trying to ruin the game rather than play the game. In the rare case where a player genuinely thinks he is using a legitimate strategy, a moderator's warning can steer him straight.

That said, I do think it's possible to define a better set of game-over conditions that will cut down on this kind of behavior (GoogleFrog's valid concerns notwithstanding).

Knorke, I don't want to ban everyone who porcs up trying to finish a strider before they die. I'm talking assholes who waste everyone's time by digging to China. Neonstorm was pretty clearly griefing on purpose and should know better.

My eco victory idea would fix it. Works as simple like this:
Once team 1 has 100x more metal in units they automatically win. Team 1 is so far ahead that team 2 has no chance anymore.

Yep, this has been proposed many times by many people but has yet to be implemented. I don't think I've ever seen a game in which a team that is behind 100x in units has won.

I doubt you could find one where one team was behind 2x in units and won.

Wouldn't want to auto-end the game at that point, of course. I'm just sayin'. The game gets lopsided quickly.

Resign was meant to solve this issue.
Why wasn't it effective?

I watched the second replay, seems normal to me, mostly inactivity in last ~=8 minutes, but his ally was there too.

You can't blame people for that imo.

PROTIP:
Best way to kill units in holes is spy plane + shadow.
Certainly cheaper than selfd detriment next to uw con which isnt even in hole..

Once few puppys won against thousands of krows.

I think the easiest way to kill such comms is terraform. I always terraform a big hill and raise their wreckage into the skies for everyone to see!

Skasi there wasnt even a terraform hole .. or a comm..

There was a con underwater, doing nothing, just idle con.

And they were trying to kill it with detriment..

It doesn't matter, does it? Com or con underwater.. it's basically the same. You can still terraform a pillar to lift its (future) corpse.

Walking tower can eat trees to make itself a passage to hide in.

But there are no walking towers in zk. (sans the godshield proposition)
