Format

Round robin or Swiss followed by tiebreaks. (That does not mean that if you lose 2 games that the tournament is over for you three)
[Spoiler]

Map Pool

Subject to change.

Since this tournament is sponsored by Mr. Sea, there will be a Sea Map to choose from every round!
How to choose one of these maps?
3 Map/s showen: In each round the first team listed in the room bans a map, then the second team picks one of the remaining maps.

How to sign up?

Sign up with a team and a teamname below this thread!
for examble: " DErankHoppili+ @Chomolungma+ PHrankethanmarcusg = "Nubs" Or if you don't have a complete team (3) yet: "I'm searching for 2 people" / "Me and PlayerA are searching for 1 guy."

If you don't have a team register anyway then you will be put on the "unassigned players list:" and people who don't have a team will contact you or you will contact people on the "unassigned players list:".If this is not the case by the start of the tournament I will divide these players fairly into teams.

If you show up at the last minute you might or might not get in, depending on the number of teams and whether anybody needs a partner.

The world is cruel...

And also very beautiful.

Sign me up for this tourney, DErankHoppili, I'll be leading a team, team name of "Firepluk Cultists". I'll see if I can scrape up a few guys from the Wurmpl clan.

Still looking for 2 more teammates.

To avoid issues on the day, will tiebreaks be decided by the same way as previous tournaments? (Which was the "TB" column followed by the "Buchholz" column on Challonge)

3v3 is really hard for tourneys, always leavers. but can work more then 4 teams is still good

Yeah I think tiebreaks will be decided by "TB" column followed > "Median-Bucholz-System" .

Well I can also make a 1v1 tournament again where you basically always see only the same people...
However, more and more players have written to me that they would like to have a 2v2 / 3v3 tournament and the majority has then decided for 3v3.

Other problem is OP teams, try to keep them to some degree reasonable, like 3x purple teams is too much

I think some team tourneys in the past have had rating caps on teams so the best players didnt make an unbeatable team and steamrolled everyone. Just a thought

What kind of rating caps are you thinking about, WHR limit?
Suggest what you think is best.

NOrankAdminKingstad when teams are bigger than 2 then expansion is not that important and because of that top 1 vs 1 players are indistinguishable from 2300 ELO lobsters. Why you might ask? It's because they can't over-expand the enemy since all fronts are pushed at the same time by 3 players.

I don't think OP teams will count a lot in these types of games.

A team with yellows is at a severe disadvantage, even one out of three.

forever, just like 1v1, team tourney results have historically fallen almost exactly in order of the collectively WHR rating. Keeping them in the same ballpark is advised imo.

Hoppili, WHR limits are complicated, I think the easiest measure is for you to just give a stern angry face if a super team signs up, and reserve the right to reject it, or request them to reconsider.

Map pool. critique

- Terra, Wanderlust and banana rep are some of the best for 3v3, please add to regular rounds

- avoid risk of hour long matches. White rabbit, europe and moon q are too much.

- For medium, large map rounds add folsam and\or dsd or something

Just my thoughts, but if you do larger maps keep to same rounds, else you stagger long games throughout tourney.

I agree, except for with wanderlust -- i think it's too crowded for 3v3. Fallendell is a very nice small map for 3v3.

Terra is in my opinion, one of the best for 3v3 and possibly the very best map for the mode.

Subject to change.

Roung 3: Nuclear_Winter_v1 replaced with Banana Republic v1.0.1
Round 4: White Rabbit v2.1 replaced with Terra 2
Round 5: Moon Quartet Remake replaced with Random Plateaus v1.1

Thanks for both your opinions :)

Yes, I agree with you without any form of limitation it's stupid. Thanks for your simple idea. Will see how far the idea must be implemented, or not.
